Ever since I was young I've loved being outside. My favorite thing to do is to walk in the woods of Pennsylvania. The thought of these woods and others like them disappearing is upsetting. This led me to look for ways to do my small part to take care of what we have. I've also come to realize that my health is directly linked to the health of my surroundings. So, by keep the earth clean, I help myself and my family live healthier lives.
I am a skeptic. I like to know the facts. Knowing the facts helps me to make decisions that are informed. So, I've done some research on things like climate change to find the truth about global warming. There are people on both sides of the spectrum, those who are convinced that nothing is happening and those who believe the earth is ending today. The truth seems to lie in the middle. We are in a climate shift. What is causing this has been and is currently being researched. As new information comes to light, we gain a better understanding of what is happening.
One fact is clear, pollution never helps our planet become healthier. When we burn fossil fuels or produce some products we create waste that is unhealthy for the planet and our bodies. We can't continue to increase the amounts of waste we produce because we live in a closed system. It's like fish in a fish tank. If you don't clean their water, they die from the build up of waste in their "world". Common sense tells you that we can't do "business as usual". Science is now backing that up.
